DemocracyOS is a text-message-based platform for public input, making it easy for you to share feedback on local issues. It’s designed to capture the full range of community perspectives, including voices often missed by traditional public input.

1. We gather public input via SMS, ensuring all perspectives are included.
A truly representative cross-section of the city responds to our surveys called Pulse Ballots — sharing ideas, concerns, stories, and suggestions.

2. We create weekly reports, making sense of 100s of voices to ensure they’re all counted.
We distill the responses into a clear, human-centered report. It’s what you’d get if someone took many hours to deeply read every piece of input, tracked how opinions are shifting, and surfaced the most important ideas.

3. Leaders review reports and insights, so the public’s voice is in the room day after day.
Civic leaders are delivered reports weekly. They have more impact because leaders can trust the voices represented are broad, balanced, and real — not just the loudest or most connected.
How does it work?
Sign up, and you’ll start receiving surveys (we call them Pulse Ballots) via text several times a month. Unlike other public input methods, Pulse Ballots are sent to the full range of voices, like a Burlington-in-miniature. We then turn the results into ongoing reports for city leaders — keeping the public’s voice front-and-center day after day.
